Few weeks ago I attended the MUN (model united nation ) conference with Danyal , it is a really new concept fro me to adapt in.The topic was the defectors of North Korea. As the delegate of UK Danyal and I wasn’t prepared enough since we thought DPRK doesn’t share a seat in the UN. We basically changed our position at the beginning of the conference. However we did a good job during the conference because we are better English writers. Through this MUN I discover how to organize ourselves and others towards a common goal. In the conference we are asked to give specific solutions on the refugees,in order to achieve this goal we had to communicate with other delegates of other countries. Although we have different ideas on minor issues like if there should be aids given to DPRK and if it is safe for us to accept refugees, at the end we came up with a nicely written 1000 words Draft Resolution for this topic. Also in the vote competing with the union of China, and DPRK we won 2/3 of the votes and passed the DR.
Also it is my pleasure to discuss with these students at our same age with different perspectives. Discussing these international issues is exciting yet difficult since the situation was complicated. It is good to know communities Like Shude international high School which holds this kind of conference regularly, it will be great to attend another MUN next year. At the end of the conference we won the award of Best Style although we have no idea what that means. However it is really good for the guys that attend this conference for the first time.
